Brass Diffusers. How to clean them?

When it comes to the daily cleaning and maintenance of your range cooker here is a little trick I use to clean the brass diffusers on my range cooker. This method will leave swirl marks on the brass as it used wire wool but there is no way to avoid that.

You will need half a lemon, salt, and some wire wool.

What you need.

You will need half a lemon, don’t waste the other half use it with some tea or in a Gin & Tonic. Some salt, I used Malden as that is what I had in the larder, and some fine 0000 steel/wire wool, which you can get from most local hardware shops.

Step 2

Take the half a lemon, put some salt on it and rub it over the brass diffuser, this will start the process, you can see my one is quite dirty. Do this for a few minutes.

Step 3.

Next use your wire wool, and in circular motions rub the surface, you dont need to press to hard un less the dirt is caked on, do this for a few minutes, then repeat step 2 and alternate between the two steps.

Step 4

Keep working on the brass diffuser till it is clean, the wash it under the tap, and wipe it with a micro fibre cloth.

The Final Result

You can see the final result the brass diffuser is clean and looking good. It is important to keep these clean as they ensure equal heat distribution and they look nice.
